Description
Onboarding UX&UI redesign for a known game app
Project Time
2 weeks

Lobby screen from the existing game app

The challenge
Pop! Slots is a social casino game app used mainly for slot machine gaming. The challenge was to design a first-time user experience (FTUE) that would increase users' percentage of returning to the game.
Understanding the project
I recorded the current FTUE and took some notes. Then I dived into a detailed document with most of the relevant information about the game and users' study. At that point, I felt ready for a brainstorming session to process all the new information and organize my thoughts about it. After getting a better idea of this product, I checked some of its compositions.
Designing
Next, the UX part! I created a quick wireframe and the user flow started to form from the brainstorming notes I made. I maintain the app language (such as the guiding character and the immersive screens) but change some focus points compared to the app's original flow.
I try to do a brainstorming session before I start working. It's a powerful tool that helps me to understand and specify the target of the current project
Later, all the screens were designed in Adobe XD. I used screenshots from the app to create a new onboarding flow, but also made completely new components that will support the FTUE I designed. Needless to say, I constantly checked the design on my mobile to make sure everything was in the right size. The design was upgraded several times until it ripened to its current state.
Finally, a prototype was created to present the FTUE.
I printed the two personas that I focused on and put them on my board as the project was on, to remind myself who I was designing for
